Living on my own in the ladies' world, a story by a young Ukrainian man.
Three and a half years ago when I was about to start my long way as a student in one University the future seemed cloudless and pretty: new friends, whole a lot of parties, studying languages and literature and the last but not the least important factor was number of beautiful ladies who were going to study by my side. Reality turned out to be different. Such aspects of student being as studying, partying went ok, but such "extracurricular" part as communication was far from what is being called ideal.
I'm definitely not a ladies man, but that had never been a problem in my life before I went to the university, but here I was trapped by a net of obligations, such as obligations of gentleman, a man, and a nice person. Sometimes it's not that bad to have some ties that keep you, but in this case I guess I was kept by 40 women or so and that was too much. From my point of view, women's society has a very complicated network of relationship that is based on a number of undercurrents, hints and flirtation. That is too much for straight male mind which is used to clear actions and words. The other problem is double standards. From one side, girls always want to be treated as ladies on the first place. They want to be helped, gently spoken to and always excused. Well, it's not that bad either, if you have a counterbalance, but one more male representative in the group is not enough for that purpose .
So, I had to start my struggle for living in such group. At first it was pretty hard, I had to come throught few periods of being kind of outcast of our groups's world, but right now I got used to it and even can enjoy my special position. Experience is a great thing, and after 3 first years I learned how to be patient, restrained and convincing while talking to women. Yes, it was hard and sometimes it felt like you’re taking their side in fighting against your own beliefs and personality, but the strange thing about the situation happened to be that I gained much more that I could have thought. I think that I’m more ready to life right now, and after a long time of searching I found the girl I love, and think the experience gained by studying in a group with so many pretty ladies is quite useful in our relationship.
Lots of words but no a single tip how to act in the same situation? One should be naive expecting me to give any kind of advice speaking about women. My aim was to show that you never know what challenges might bring you and the only way out is just to enjoy your studying with beautiful creatures but not to lose watchfulness. I did enjoy my time and I believe that these 4 years gave me a lot.
